“Annie the Norwegian Forest Cat: The Feline Royalty in a Tuxedo”

Meet Annie, a breathtaking Norwegian Forest cat with alluring jade green eyes and a majestic two-toned coat. I had the pleasure of speaking with her cat dad who kindly allowed me to feature her on this website. Let’s learn more about Annie!

Firstly, I asked how Annie came into his life, and he shared that Julie educated them about the breed before they became ‘slaves’ to a Norwegian Forest cat. Initially, they thought she was exaggerating the breed’s characteristics, but as it turned out, Julie spoke the truth. They kept in touch with Julie and received pictures of the litter. After watching videos and observing photos, they decided that Annie would be the perfect addition to their family.

I then inquired about how Annie got her name. Unfortunately, her cat dad didn’t elaborate on that topic.

Moving on to her personality, I asked about her cattitude. Unlike most tuxedo cats known for their attitude, Annie is a sweetheart. Her cat dad described her as playful, affectionate, and loving towards everyone.

When it comes to housemates, Annie is the only pet in the household, and she loves every minute of it. Finally, I asked if there’s anything special he’d like people to know about Annie. His response was that Annie is a unique and magnificent cat who brings joy and happiness into their lives.

Do you ever wonder how Annie got her name? Well, let me tell you her story. Annie was born on November 11th, 2019, which happens to be Remembrance Day. She was one of five sisters, but unfortunately, one of them passed away within 48 hours of their birth. The breeder, Julie, decided to name the remaining four kittens after famous singers from war time and the flower that represents Remembrance Day. Annie was named Forestfriend Annie after Ann Shelton, while her sisters were named Forestfriend Dame Vera (after Dame Vera Lynn), Forestfriend Gracie (after Gracie Fields), and Forestfriend Poppy (after the flower). And that’s how Annie came to have her unique and meaningful name.

What kind of personality does she have?
Annie, a Norwegian Forest Cat, possesses exceptional intelligence that is evident in her behavior. She can follow commands like sitting and walking on a lead and harness around the garden. Annie has an affectionate nature and enjoys playing with toys, which she often leaves on the bed for her owners to find every morning. Her playfulness is unmatched, and she always wants to be involved in everything her owners do. She loves to snuggle in bed with her owners at night and is an amazing addition to their household.
Notably, when her owner became seriously ill with meningitis and pneumonia and was admitted to the hospital for treatment, Annie refused to leave his side and provided him with much-needed comfort. Additionally, Annie’s brother, Boris, a domestic shorthaired cat, is allowed to roam freely outside. However, Annie keeps a watchful eye on him and makes sure her owners know when he returns, eagerly waiting for him to come inside.

The majority of tuxedo cats are known for their sassy personalities, and Annie is no exception. Her cattitude is undeniable, as she struts around the house and gives anyone who crosses her path a disdainful look. Despite her self-appointed boss status, Annie’s older brother Boris knows who’s truly in charge. However, he doesn’t mind letting her feel like the top cat in the house.

Despite being only 18 months old, Annie is already the same size and weight as Boris, tipping the scales at over 6kg. This doesn’t stop her from trying to jump on or over him, but Boris is unfazed by her playful antics. When she’s not trying to play with her feline friend, Annie loves spending time with her toys and is always up for a game with her human companions.

Annie is also an avid hunter, tracking flies around the house and chatting with birds through the window. It’s unclear whether she’s telling them stories or scolding them for entering her territory. She has daily “zoomie” sessions where she races around the house before suddenly stopping and curling up in a cozy cat bed for a nap. Despite all the commotion, she looks perfectly innocent and cute.

Annie does have a housemate – her older brother Boris. He’s a domestic short hair black and white tuxedo cat who is 14 years old and diabetic.

Do you know what makes Annie unique? Well, let me tell you a heartwarming story. Annie and her sisters were born via cesarean section because their mother, Forestfriend Buffy, had complications during delivery. Sadly, due to a mistake by the vet, Buffy passed away just two days after giving birth. Fortunately, a kind-hearted woman named Julie found another mother cat who had given birth a week earlier and took in the orphaned litter as her own. Thanks to Julie’s love and care, all four kittens, including Annie, grew up healthy and beautiful.

Annie is now 17 months old and has a sweet personality. She loves getting groomed and will purr loudly when I brush her chest and belly while she relaxes on my lap. We have also been showing her with The International Cat Association (TICA) where she has been performing exceptionally well and earning numerous titles in her first year. Recently, we started showing her at Loving Cats World Wide (LCWW) shows, and we’re excited to see how she progresses. All in all, Annie is a special cat with an extraordinary story that makes her even more lovable.
