On the night of December 22, a pregnant Mam Nata was abandoned outside the IAPA facility. She was estimated to be around 8 weeks along and close to giving birth.
The folks at Instituto Amor em Patas (IAPA) discovered a dog in a sorry state: frail, unable to stand, and utterly fearful. It took some time to put her at ease, but eventually, she warmed up to the shelter’s volunteers. The dog had been abandoned by her owner because she was scared of giving birth to puppies. Initially, she was extremely defensive, putting all her energy into keeping others away from her and her unborn pups. However, with a little patience and love, the dog soon became more social and approachable.
“Check out her stomach, it’s possible that there are around 13 to 14 babies in there. We’re planning to have her examined tomorrow since she seems to be feeling weak,” shared a volunteer.
Get ready for a lengthy evening as Natajuli and us are in for a long haul. We’re scheduled for her ultrasound to make sure everything is alright. After receiving the necessary assistance, Natajuli is permitted to go back to the shelter and successfully delivers her first child, a smart little boy.
Do you have the ability to tally up the number of puppies present? Well, let me tell you, Natajuli has bestowed upon the world a grand total of 14 delightful pups. Recently, Natajuli and her offspring visited the veterinarian for a quick examination, which included an ultrasound and bloodwork. Natajuli appeared flushed but content, while all 14 of her young ones were full-bellied and weighed quite heavily. Witnessing their adorable faces brought about strong emotions, almost driving me to tears. I couldn’t help but want to shower them with kisses.
“I can’t believe I forgot to give these 14 adorable creatures names! Naming them is no easy feat, but I’d love to hear your suggestions. Leave a comment with the name you think suits them best!”
