Managing and maintaining the center is no easy feat and it comes at a high cost. However, the location of the center makes it easier to receive supplies quickly. The cats consume a staggering 34 kg of food every day, which amounts to a weekly delivery of food costing $35,000 annually.
The center receives its primary support from tourists and cat enthusiasts worldwide, with only 5% of donations coming from local residents. Visitors from Japan, Australia, and India often visit the center, bringing food and taking time to play with the cats. In the past year, the center welcomed nearly 10,000 tourists, making it more than just a sanctuary for stray cats. The center even hosted a cat wedding in 2016 for cat lovers to indulge in their affection for felines. Every year, approximately 200 new cats are brought to the facility, where they receive names, microchips, and photographs. Male cats are neutered, and all cats are given a clean bill of health before being released to socialize with visitors.
The center provides a safe haven for many cats, offering them food, water, and a cozy place to rest. It’s also a great opportunity for these felines to be a part of a loving family. Those who love cats can select and adopt one from the center. The facility is aiming to shelter around 1,500 cats soon. One of the essential projects of the center is to build a quiet spot for senior cats. The director’s ultimate aim is to rescue all stray cats and provide them with a peaceful home.
